What is the Educational Studies Program?
The
Educational Studies Program, a volunteer student run group which I am a part of, runs outreach and enrichment programs for middle and high school students. These students take classes from college and graduate students on any subject the college student wants to teach. Our biggest program is Splash, where 1,800 middle and high school students come to MIT for a weekend of classes.
I've been teaching for the program since 2004 and co-directed the first "Splash on Wheels" - a program which takes Splash to a local high school.
I'm helping run an effort to spread that model to other school around the country. I attended the
NASPA 2008 conference as an exhibitor to present ESP's work to student life administrators around the country. We currently have programs at MIT,
University of Chicago, NYU and Stanford. Don't hesitate to contact me about how you can set up an ESP at your college or university.
