Staircasing

Only orthogonal movement is defined by the rules of Tron. One can move in a horizontal or vertical direction, never diagonal. But Tron agents often simulate a diagonal, by quickly alternating left and right turns. It may be a bit disconcerting for the human but, by itself, is not enough to be a good player (fig. 3.30).
