5.7 Effect of optimizations

To demonstrate that the results in the section are not dependent on the optimizations that MW actors perform, we re-ran the system without them. Figure 14 shows how two performance measures compare. Learning is faster and performance slightly better when the optimizations are performed, but there is not a great deal of difference. Other statistics show similar relationships. Thus, the credit for the improvement in community performance lies primarily with remembering in general and not with the optimizations.
