Potential Problems
·
Excessive
filtering
o Problem: People may filter
out too important information
This should not be a serious problem, as the social
forces at work in the organization will likely force the user to look at messages
that pertain to him/her.
In fact, filtering will be beneficial in two ways:
o Receivers will spend more
time on messages that they deem relevant/important
o Senders are likely to send
out more information because they need not worry about displeasing those who do
not care to read their messages
·
Imperfect
finding
o Problem: How can the user
know if he is filtering out messages that may be of interest?
o No system is perfect, but
this system is an improvement
o Proposed solutions:
§
Receive
a number of public messages randomly everyday
§
Create
a rule for “probable interest value” to rank messages
