Evolving Robust Assembly Procedures
Embryogenic Evolution of Structure :
A Simple Example
Genotype:
Phenotype: A structure consisting of bricks placed by the turtle.
Evaluation: Turtle decodes assembly procedure in a deterministic physics environment.
Algorithm:
- Multi-Objective-Optimization (MOO) on:
- (A) length (minimizing)
- (B) number of bricks missing from goal structure (minimizing)
- (C) Sum of (B) and number of extra bricks in final structure (minimizing)
- (D) Diversity - normalized sum of city block distances, c.f De Jong (maximizing)
-
Non Pareto-Dominated individuals kept.
- New individuals created by two-point crossover (70 percent) OR multi-point mutation (2 percent per-locus mutation, deletion or addition)
So, it's a simple embryogenic model
because the structure grows piece by piece as it is build
by the turtle.
